01

Who the agreement is with

These terms are between you (“you”) and AST HEATING LIMITED (“AST Heating”, company number SC482919, registered in Scotland at 9 Pitcruvie Park, Lundin Links, Leven, Fife, KY8 6HY). By using the helper at astheating.com you accept these terms.

02

What AST provides

AST Heating is an informational helper for households worldwide with heating, boiler, radiator or thermostat questions. It helps you describe a fault, prepare for an engineer visit, and translate engineer notes into plain English.

AST is not a repair service, a diagnostic medical tool, a safety inspection, or a substitute for a licensed heating engineer certified in your country (for example, Gas Safe in the UK, RGI in Ireland, NATE in the US, HRAI in Canada).

03

Using the helper

  • You are 18 or over, or using the site with adult oversight.
  • You are responsible for a household that you occupy or manage.
  • You will not use the helper for anything illegal or harmful.
  • You won't try to attack, scrape at volume, or reverse-engineer the service.

04

Safety first

AST guidance is general, not a substitute for trained advice. In any of the following situations, stop using the helper and follow the emergency route:

  • A suspected gas leak — leave the property and call your local gas emergency line. Every country has one.
  • Carbon monoxide symptoms — open windows, leave, call your local emergency / medical line.
  • Water near electrics — switch off power first.
  • Any smell of burning or scorched parts on the boiler.

For any gas appliance work, use an engineer certified in your country — look for the local licensed register (Gas Safe in the UK, RGI in Ireland, NATE / licensed HVAC in the US, HRAI in Canada, AGA in Australia, and similar elsewhere).

05

Accuracy of output

AST uses pattern-matched guidance. We make reasonable efforts to keep it correct and up to date, but we can't guarantee every output is right for your specific home or appliance. Use judgement and, where in doubt, ask a registered engineer.

06

Limitation of liability

To the extent permitted by law, AST Heating is not liable for:

  • Consequential loss, loss of profit, or loss of business resulting from use of the helper.
  • Costs incurred from acting on guidance in place of a qualified engineer.
  • Outages of third-party services the helper depends on.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, fraud, or anything else that cannot be excluded by applicable law. Your statutory rights as a consumer in your country of residence are not affected.

08

Intellectual property

The AST name, logo, design, code and content belong to us. You can use the helper for your own household — you can't copy the design, strip the brand, or rebuild a competing service from our outputs.

09

Availability

We try to keep the helper online and current. Sometimes we take it down for maintenance or change features. We don't promise the service will always be available.

010

Changes to these terms

We can update these terms. Material changes will be surfaced on the site. Continuing to use the helper after a change means you accept the new terms.

011

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of Scotland, where the company is registered. Disputes are subject to the courts of Scotland. Consumers retain any mandatory rights granted by the laws of their country of residence — this clause does not override them.
