01

Who we are

This policy is published by AST HEATING LIMITED (“AST Heating”, “we”, “us”), a company registered in Scotland with company number SC482919. Our registered office is 9 Pitcruvie Park, Lundin Links, Leven, Fife, KY8 6HY.

For privacy matters we are the data controller. Contact us at support@astheating.com.

02

What we collect

We keep the information to a minimum. We collect:

  • Usage data — the pages you visit, anonymised device / browser, approximate region. Used to improve the helper.
  • Email correspondence — if you write to us, your email address and the contents of your message.
  • Inputs into the tools — symptoms you tick, text you paste. These are processed in-browser where possible and are not linked to your identity.

We do not collect bank details. We do not buy or sell personal data.

03

Our lawful basis

  • Legitimate interest — running a safe, useful helper; preventing abuse; improving the product.
  • Consent — for optional analytics that go beyond what is strictly necessary (you can withdraw at any time).
  • Legal obligation — where we must keep records (for instance, financial records, responses to regulator requests).

04

How long we keep it

  • Email correspondence — 12 months after the last reply, then deleted.
  • Aggregated analytics — 26 months.
  • Security logs — 30 days.
  • Financial and company records — 6 years, or the minimum period required by local tax / company law, whichever is longer.

05

Who we share it with

We share only with processors that run the site — hosting, email, analytics. We pick processors with suitable safeguards (Standard Contractual Clauses, UK IDTA, or equivalent) and EEA / UK / US hosting regions depending on where you sign in from. We never share your data for advertising.

If we're required to share data by law (for instance, a court order) we will do so, and we'll tell you unless the law prevents us.

06

Your rights under GDPR-grade standards

You can ask us to:

  • Tell you what we hold about you.
  • Correct anything inaccurate.
  • Delete your data.
  • Restrict or object to certain uses.
  • Give you a copy of it in a common format.

Email support@astheating.com with the word “Data request” in the subject. We reply within one calendar month.

If we can't sort things out, you can complain to your local data protection authority — the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk), the lead supervisory authority in your EU member state, the FTC in the United States, the OAIC in Australia, or the equivalent regulator in your country.

07

Cookies

We use a small set of functional cookies (to keep the site working) and, with your consent, an analytics cookie to understand usage. We don't use advertising cookies or cross-site trackers. You can change your preferences at any time in your browser.

08

Children

AST is aimed at adults running a household. The tools don't need an account for the first use, and we don't knowingly hold data about children — the minimum age aligned with local law (13 under COPPA in the US, 16 under GDPR in most EU states, 13 in the UK, etc.). If you believe a child's data has reached us, email support@astheating.com and we'll delete it.

09

Changes to this policy

We update this policy when the helper changes or when the law changes. We will surface material changes on the site. The “Effective” date at the top of this page shows the last update.
